Scroll down to content

After our memorable visit of Tajmahal in late 2017, this time it is one of the most eagerly awaited and planned summer trip to Manali a resort town nestled in the mountains of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. Yes..! This time it’s not a day trip rather most cherished 4 days.

This blog is to share our unforgettable life time experience of our vist in the end of the month May 2018.

Definitely It is going to be a long but interesting story with many photos.

When to Visit Manali:

Winter (Sept – Feb)

By September the winter starts setting in. Snowfall starts and the temperatures go down to as low as -1 °C. December to January is the ideal time to enjoy the snowfall and the spectacular beauty of this place. Generally this is the time you will see adventurous teams and honeymoon couples in Manali.

Summer (Mar – Jun)

In summer the temperatures vary between 10 – 25 degree Celsius. This is the time when you can see the flowers are in full bloom. During this time one can enjoy outdoor activities like river rafting, para-gliding and other mountain adventures.

Monsoon (Jul – Aug)

This is the time for heavy rainfall in Manali which leads to landslides many times. Not preferable season to visit.

How to reach Manali :

There are many ways as usaual to reach to Manali depending upon from where you are travelling.

  1. By Air. The nearest airport is at Bhuntar, located approximately 50 kilometres away from Manali. …
  2. By Bus. Manali is very well-connected to important tourist destinations like Leh, Shimla, Kullu, Dharamshala and New Delhi by means of a network of state-run as well as private buses.
  3. Road/Self Drive.

Our Journey started

We six of us were heading to Manali from New Delhi. We booked our tickets in a private volvo bus. The bus was good and having semi sleeper kind of seats. There are many options available for bus operators including a very good buses of himachal state transport services.

So, finally we departed from new delhi at 6 o’clock in the evening with full excitement of journey ahead. The route of Manali from delhi passes through Chandigarh, Ambala, Mandi, Bhuntar, Kullu, etc.

We had very good time in the bus. Do not know when we closed our eyes. When we opened our eyes in the next morning, bus was stopped somewhere in front of the small restaurant (dhaba).

All of us got down and had nice tea and after getting freshen up we started a last lap of journey which was of about 2-3 hours.

Complete road towards Manali was going in parallel with the river Beas and is visually breathtaking.

Reached Manali at around 10 o’clock in the morning rather scheduled arrival of 8 o’clock. Heavy traffic due to ongoing road construction work was the culprit which shortened our stay by 2 hours in such a beautiful place.

Though the delay was irritated but the first look of nature after reaching the hotel was simply wow…!! Yes. It was marvelous. We thanked God for such a beautiful creation.
